Don’t call us, we’ll call you

We’re still alive . . .

If you read Neal’s blog, you already know that. (And if you don’t, get on that!) He’s chronicled a bit of our recent travels, jumping from reunion to reunion around Utah. I may write more about those later (spoiler alert: at one point during my time alone with Addison, I called Neal to tell him, “I AM DONE! I’m JUST DONE!”) but for now, we’re off to another reunion tomorrow morning.

First, some pictures from the Call reunion last week:

Who’s ready for vacation to be over?

(Of course, it’s telling that Neal had only arrived for vacation an hour earlier.)

That’s about where I think Addison hit her picture wall — she had to manually implant her smile.

Thank goodness she’s so cute, so I still loved her by the end of what was a crazy hard week of her acting out (if she got within a two-mile radius of a child, chances are she hit, kicked, or pushed said child) and pushing all my buttons.

  1. Speak for yourself, blog post title. I might actually be dead. Sometimes a body keeps going through the routines for a while before it realizes it’s run out of juice.

Psych. My juices are still flowing. Out my nose. I think I’m allergic to vacations.

    • Oh yuck, Neal; definitely TMI for my beloved blog readers. But then you and your massive head cold have been yucky for quite a few days now.

  2. She was very sweet with the kenners 🙂 I can’t believe how big she has gotten!

    • Thankfully, she is very gentle with younger kids. She seems to innately sense their vulnerability — that is some consolation.

  3. Oh, that skirt was a great choice for family pictures! How did you ever come to such a fine conclusion ? 🙂 Love ya.

  4. The terrible twos at their best, how something so cute could be so frustrating. Getting cuter and cuter, though– love her hair-do!

  5. I’m confused. 1) In these photos Addison is wearing white pants and a green gingham top. She has an adorable skirt, but I must be missing something since I don’t see it. 2) Addison was a sweet gem at the Rackliffe’s and at Zion’s: little Cozy (for Cosette) warmed right up to her friendly be-my-friend handholding, sweeping at their tent site, sharing marshmallows, singing “Happy Birthday, Cozy!” and more. It was fun to hear her coo, “I sleep in Papa’s bed!” [on the floor], share bathroom toiletry wisdom, reading about snow leopards, pandas, tigers. She loved her visit w/ the Craig & Shar clan of little people, so the trying part must have been before Neal joined you. You two are terrific parents! Sorry Neal is under the weather.

    • Rach’s comment above is referring to the skirt I’m wearing . . . there’s more to that story that will get a post of its own when I get a chance.

And yes, the trying part was definitely the prior week. I don’t think she hit anyone the second week of vacation, although she was back to those antics the minute we got back to CA and got together with her cousins. Oy! It’s hard to discipline two little girls who seem quite cheerful about the fact that they have just hit and kicked each other.

  6. Your hair is short! And such a pretty color! Sorry Addison drove you crazy. Come over my house and we can have crazy kids and be crazy moms together . . .
